EDB and Postgres through the years and in the years to come

Tom Kincaid is the Senior Vice President of engineering for Database Server Products at EDB. Tom has been developing, deploying and supporting database systems and enterprise software for over 25 years. Prior to rejoining EDB, Tom was the general manager of 2ndQuadrant in North America where he oversaw all aspects of its business for Postgres products, training, support and professional services. He worked directly with companies from all industries and of all sizes helping them successfully make Postgres part of their mission-critical operations. He has overseen the development of many features that were contributed to Postgres in the last fifteen years and has been responsible for the operation of hundreds of Postgres clusters that supported many mission critical business operations.
EDB was founded over 20 years ago as a company making a strategic bet centered on the success of Postgres.This talk will go over key moments in the company's journey with Postgres over the past two decades.
The talk will present how the company and their over 1600 customers, which include some of the world's largest financial institutions, governments, Telecommunication providers and militaries, have richly benefitted from Postgres over the years. In addition the talk will discuss how we have had to work with customers of all sizes and the Postgres community to introduce new features to help take their Postgres deployments to the next level.
The talk will then pivot to our future and how we plan to contribute to the Postgres project and its surrounding ecosystem in the years to come. Specific things presented will be how we see the Technology Industry and Postgres moving forward together and how we want to help make Postgres successful in the decades to come based on how we see the industry our customers operate in evolving.
