More and more people are migrating their application from the commercial databases like Oracle and SQL Server to PostgreSQL. Now with GenAI in the mix, migration projects are moving at an accelerated pace, but there are things that will cause them to fail. The nuances of how the different databases handle things from data types to transaction to nulls all play a part in the overall performance and stability on the application on PostgreSQL. In this talk we will drill down into some of the common mistakes people make when migrating from Oracle or SQL Server to PostgreSQL and how to avoid them. We will delve into why people are making those mistakes and how to see the signs if those mistakes were made already.
