An understanding about PostgreSQL Pages, Buffer Cache and the "clock-sweep" Buffer Eviction Algorithm. This topic will introduce the buffer cache in PostgreSQL. It will then discuss how pages are cached in it and how victim buffer pages are evicted when needed. One of the techniques that will be specifically looked at is the "clock-sweep" eviction logic.
